Past President - Edward (Ted) Robinson - Messages

October 09, 2009

It was my honor to have been elected as your current CBD-IAI President at our most recent Educational Conference at the Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia, October 9-10, 2009. It is my hope that I can live up to your expectations. After two extremely fine conferences put on by Past President, Linda Hileman, this last year, I have my work cut out for me. I look forward to this challenge, but I know I’ll have the support of all our other Officers and our Board of Directors. No position within the CBD-IAI is a one-person show. We all work together to provide you, our membership, with a Division you can be proud of.

Now, we are all looking forward to our Spring 2010 Educational Conference, to be held at the Founder’s Inn and Spa in Virginia Beach, Virginia from March 20, 2010 to March 26th. This will be our second one-week long conference, proof that the Officers of the CBD-IAI listens to our membership, because it is you, our membership, who have requested we experiment with a one-week conference format. Then, following this second one-week long conference, we will sit down and ask ourselves, along with our membership, if this week-long conference format is one we want to continue, or if we’ll return to our Fall and Spring 1 ½ day conference formats. In either case, we will be committed to providing the CBD-IAI with the finest educational conferences we are capable of producing.

In addition to superior education opportunities at our conferences, we have continued supporting students studying the forensic sciences in the universities within our division. The George H. Robinson Memorial Scholarship fund exists to award scholarship grants to deserving students within our division. We congratulate our most recent scholarship recipients, and look forward to evaluating another fine group of applicants next year.

The CBD-IAI is your division. Many hard working officers are representing you, but there is always room for others who would be interested in serving the CBD-IAI. We are constantly looking for talented members to step up and offer to help out. Just contact any one of the Officers or the Board of Directors if you feel you can lend us a hand. If you can’t volunteer to work on a committee or run for an official position, and you still have good ideas that can help us out, please pass your ideas on to any of us, and we will be pleased to bring these ideas up during our meetings. I take great pride in representing you all as your President. Let’s all work together to make this a great division!

Edward (Ted) Robinson
